A great blue heron , wings up

When we showed up at Sweetwater Wetlands for a second time I had decided in advance that I would try out my larger birding lens a Sigma 60-600mm and my tripod. The birds were very active however and I just couldn't catch pictures of the flying birds. Back to the car to change lenses and ditch the tripod , the setup was just to heavy and cumbersome. Once I returned to the spot I had left the birds were still very active and so were the gators that were still engaged in a feeding frenzy. Here is a solid picture of a great blue heron flying overhead.
