White-crowned sparrows during the golden hour
Below is a picture of a group of white-crowned sparrows. The sparrows pictured appear to be a mixture of juveniles with one adult (in the back). I've seen individuals before sitting atop scrub, but this is my first time seeing them in a group on the ground. Adults are easily identifiable with the bold black and white head pattern. The floor of the forest is a mixture of decaying wood, dirt, dead leaves, and dead weeds. When walking here you have to be careful not to kick something, as it's likely to be a root that is not moveable; then down you go, camera and all. In the future I hope to be able to post the actual calls or songs that birds make; just haven't figured out how to do it yet. I feel it would add a lot to the blog.
