A less than stellar start but arriving later than planned turned into an awesome day
I was almost to the parking lot this morning and it occured to me that I forgot my camera, frustrating to say the least. Turning the car around I headed home, debating whether to even go back out at this point. Thinking about the beautiful morning with bright sunshine, spring and the birds being very active with mating, making nests and such it's hard not to go when you have a chance, so I grabbed the camera and headed out again. Luckily for me the stars were aligned, brilliant sunshine, lots of birds, and not much wind this morning. Early in my walk today there was a chorus of tat a tats so I stopped to listen and see if I could get some nice pictures. My patience was rewarded as two pairs of downy woodpeckers were flying in tight circles chasing each other around two trees. There were many other downy woodpeckers around this morning as well starting my morning off on the right foot.
