A song sparrow; Cute little bird
There are so many cute birds in the bosque. Here, a song sparrow caught my attention. Sparrows are abundant in the open space and the bosque. These birds forage on the ground, in shrubs, or in very shallow water. They mainly eat insects and seeds. Sparrows nest either in a sheltered location on the ground, or in trees or shrubs. These winter days find me wandering all over the place in the bosque; places that, in another month, will almost for sure be off limits. Snakes are the biggest concern and with all of the leaf litter on the forest floor, there are plenty of spots for the snakes to hide. So at some time in the near future, I'll have to start minding my manners and stay on the path or close to it; it's not worth getting bit by a snake.
