Bald Eagle Alert!

I was out birding this morning and came to the clearing where you aren't really on a path of sorts, but right on the edge of the Rio Grande. (This is also where I had seen the cranes in flight.) I set up the camera and tripod and waited. Within 15 minutes a bald eagle dove down towards the river, missed his prey, then took off further south from me, or so I thought. Naturally I didn't get any pictures with the camera, but in my mind the action was captured in a never-ending video. Getting ready to pack up shop and head further south in the direction the eagle flew, I looked up and was shocked to see him sitting in a tree very close to me. This time I started snapping pictures as fast as I could, then verified the pictures were solid and made sure there weren't any needed camera adjustments. Mistakes would be unacceptable to me. Some 200 photos later, the eagle took off and I got one picture of him launching himself from the tree branch. I deleted what I thought were the bad...
