There are three owlets! You'll have to look close though...
This morning was an exceptional morning and it's what has drawn me to birding, excitement! Oh for sure there are times when finding birds is tough and getting the perfect shot is tougher. Then there are mornings like today when all your hard work pays off. I'm still on 'owlet watch' and this morning three owlets appeared ever so briefly, with quite often two appearing at the same time. The best 'shot' doesn't appear in any of my photos, but it is burned in my memory. Standing there watching the nest with my eye not in the camera, the mother owl launched herself from in back of the nest some 20 yards away and flew down to the nest with wings fully out-stretched. The experience, the beauty of the moment was just incredible. As you look at the pictures make sure you look not just at the mother but below her in the nest. Oftentimes you can spot an owlet. For whatever reason, I can't create a link to the folder so today's pictures will be 3-4 blog posts. In the second picture (below) all three owlets are present, one fuzzy grey head to either side of the owlet with it's head above the nest.
