A red shafted northern flicker in flight

I've been trying to concentrate on improving my in flight bird photography, something that doesn't come so easily to an old man with old reflexes. Handholding the lens and camera is my preferred method as I feel that I have more control and better response with tracking etc. When I've been out birding for the last few months I've really wanted to capture a flicker in flight. The undercarriage of the wings is this beautiful burnt orange  that is amazing to see in person. the woodpecker is not in perfect focus but its close. I'll continue with the challenge.
