Our 35 year wedding anniversary and of course BIrds!!

Cindy and I spent the night at Los Poblanos Inn for our 35th wedding anniversary. It's a beautiful farm property that's primarily known for its lavender fields, but they also grow their own (organic) produce and raise pigs and chickens.  They also have a 'farm' shop where cheeses, breads, coffee shop items, upscale snack foods, and of course lavender products can be purchased. There is also a bar and restaurant, which is very convenient for a New Years' Eve stay. (No driving required.) Staying here has become somewhat of an annual tradition for us. The restaurant is very innovative; they incorporate the plants and animals raised on site into their menus and the majority of the other ingredients are locally sourced. Thankfully, they currently follow Covid-19 protocols, which is a requirement for us.  The dining room is currently closed to guests, so we opted for dinner in our room, which was wonderful. This afforded us the pleasure of dining in the warmth of our room, in front of the fire in our kiva fireplace.  For breakfast we ate outside and it was a chilly 27 degrees. Luckily, they had huge heaters and very hot coffee which made eating outside not quite as bad. The outdoor dining patio faces east and the Sandia mountains, so we were in the sun and had a spectacular view. While walking in the fields I saw these beautiful little birds, flying in a flock.  According to the Cornell bird identification app, they are Western meadowlarks. The males have yellow throats and breasts. Happy New Year everybody!
