I was about to pack it in and then this happened......

While walking in the Alameda open space, I just didn't see many birds on this day. Some days it's an abundance, with lots of birds everywhere you look, and on other days (like this) not so much. 

You just never know, but when the weather is good it's never really a bad day. The walks are beautiful, peaceful, and are a great stress-reliever. I was nearing the exit of the forested area, thinking of removing the camera from the tripod, when I spotted a beautiful great blue heron sitting on a branch. The heron wasn't very big compared to some I'd seen, but since I wasn't very far away and my birding lens was already on the camera, the heron was the perfect size for that moment in time. Enjoy!
